S/S Sgt. Matej Kocak Photos

This page collects the S/S Sgt. Matej Kocak photographs into a dedicated archive so the ship, crew, and port visit can stand on their own. The images cover crew life and a port call in Torquay, England in July 2004.

The S/S Sgt. Matej Kocak was a Sgt. Matej Kocak-class cargo ship, 821 feet in length, built in 1983 at Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock Co. in Chester, Pennsylvania. She was later operated by Military Sealift Command as USNS Sgt. Matej Kocak (T-AK-3005). The ship is named for Sergeant Matej Kocak, a U.S. Marine Corps soldier who received the Medal of Honor for his actions in World War I. Her sister ship, the S/S Major Stephen W. Pless, is also represented in this archive.
